Nanga Parbat was locally known by the name of Diamer. It is the ninth highest mountain in the world at 8,126 meters above sea level. Nanga Parbat was formerly known by the name of Diamer. However, it is the ninth largest mountain in the world. But, it has the height of around 8,126 meters as above the sea level. It is located in the Diamer District of Pakistan’s Gilgit Baltistan region. Nanga Parbat is all known as the western anchor of the Himalayas. However, The name of this mountain has been all derived from the Sanskrit words nagna and parvata which together mean “Naked Mountain”.  On the local terms, it is known by the name of Tibetan name Diamer or Deo Mir as meaning “huge mountain”.

But, the main core of the mountain is the long ridge trending to the direction of the southwest–northeast. In addition, the ridge is somehow bulk of ice and rock. Moreover, it has three faces namely known as Diamir face, Rakhiot, and Rupal. The southwestern portion of the ridge of the mountain is known as the Mazeno Wall.
