In 2015 Government of Pakistan announced the plan to consider Urdu as the national official language of Pakistan and place English as the second official language. The country does have so many of the regional languages too. Few of them are Punjabi, Saraiki, Pashto, Sindhi, Balochi, Kashmiri, Hindko, Brahui, Shina, Bhowar, Balti, Wakhi, Marwari and so many others.

The total number of languages in Pakistan is 74.  All of them are living languages. Among all these languages, 66 are indigenous and 8 are non-indigenous. Apart from them, 7 of these languages are institutional, 17 are developing, as well as 39 are vigorous, 9 are in trouble, and 2 are dying.
